Vacation time in Greece<\/b><\/h3>\n

The tour in Lavrio<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Caritas Hellas will be closed until the last week of August, month of vacations in Greece, when the city of Athens remains more empty.<\/span><\/p>\n

During all the days of service conducted in the week, the missionaries participated in activities with the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta. They collaborated in the preparation of food, in the distribution of breakfast and lunch, and in the cleaning of the place.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moment of leisure<\/b><\/h3>\n

The group also gave support toa n event that takes place yearly, organized by the Missionaries of Charity, in which several poor people, including refugees and immigrants, are taken to a tour in a region near the city of Athens.<\/span><\/p>\n

This time the place chosen was a beach of the city of Lavrio, near the base of the missionaries of the Fraternidade, where about 50 people were taken by bus. In the morning, a meeting was conducted, besides prayers and the distribution of food. In the afternoon, they had free time to swim in the sea and to rest.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt was a very beautiful experience; the people became very joyful and grateful for the opportunity\u201d, said Shen, a missionary of the Fraternidade \u2013 International Humanitarian <\/strong><\/span>Federation<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Center of Immigrants<\/b><\/h3>\n

In one morning, the group accompanied the Sisters of Charity in the visit to a center of immigrants, where they checked the process of renewal of visas.<\/span><\/p>\n

In another day of the week, a part of the group of the missionaries stayed in House 2 of the Missionaries of Charity, which attends to women and children. They made little repairs and painting. Other missionaries of the Fraternidade accompanied the task of distribution of food and special cares on the streets of Athens to needy people.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThey are people who are in a situation of serious human degradation, of misery, debilitated and some are chemical-dependents who live on the streets. It was a new and intense experience\u201d, explained Shen.<\/span><\/p>\n

The daily collection of food at a bakery in the city of Glyf\u00e1da continued. The donations were taken to the institution of the Sisters of Charity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Tasks of organization of the clothes of the storage of the Association of Lagonisi.<\/span><\/p>\n

Fraternization<\/b><\/h3>\n

On Sunday, 13, the missionaries participated in a liturgy of the Church of Saint Theodore, in the city of An\u00e1vissos, and collaborated in the cleaning of the kitchen and of the kitchenware used in the fraternization held after the Mass.<\/span><\/p>\n
