Throughout their history, these peoples grounded their life in the principles \u201cof reciprocity among people, fraternal friendship, co-existing with other beings of nature, and a profound respect for the earth.\u201d Through these principles, which are part of what they call \u2018Good Living\u2019, they built their sustainable\u00a0way of\u00a0life that can be an example for all the peoples of the planet.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">According to the report presented by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>United Nations (UN)<\/strong><\/a>, there are around 45 million indigenous people in 826 communities in Latin America, that represent 8.3% of its total population. Of these, many live in the lands of the Amazon and other regions of South America. People who\u00a0constantly struggle for the survival of their tribes, their culture, and their customs.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"Ojidu - \u00c1rvore da Vida Warao - PT\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_w__GEbp058?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/\">Fraternity \u2013 International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF)<\/a><\/strong>, through the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/roraima-mission\/\">Roraima Mission<\/a><\/strong>, helps the indigenous peoples who are in a vulnerable situation and who have experienced a forced relocation from their communities and their country. The institution \u00a0manages \u00a0shelters specifically for the natives, both in the capital Boa Vista, and in Pacaraima, a region on the border. In these shelters, they receive immigrants of the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/roraima-mission\/\">Warao<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/art-education-in-the-shelters-work-of-love-for-life\/\">E\u2019\u00f1epa<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0tribes, groups that walked for miles from their homeland, Venezuela, until arriving in Brazilian territory.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The indigenous shelter Janokoida, located in Pacaraima, holds 494 natives of the Warao tribe. In the indigenous shelter Pintol\u00e2ndia, in Boa Vista, there are 528 natives of the Warao and E\u2019\u00f1epa tribes. In both shelters, playful\u00a0and integration activities are\u00a0carried out so as to motivate them to maintain their identities and cultures, which can be perceived through the paintings on the walls and in their handicrafts.<\/p>\n<p><iframe title=\"E\u2019\u00f1epas, gente ind\u00edgena\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/_tKjA0xUyyE?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In Argentina, there is work being done with the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/chaco-mission-holds-its-13th-meeting-with-natives-of-the-qon-ethnicity\/\">Qon<\/a>\u00a0tribe through a recurring mission taken on by the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/light-network\/\">Light-Network<\/a> of the country. The activity takes place every three months and they are provided with educational health care services in dentistry and personal hygiene, vaccination, artistic activities with children, besides donations of school materials and food.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/\">Fraternity \u2013 International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF)<\/a>\u00a0is grateful to the indigenous peoples that are taken care of by the missions because of their allowing an exchange in knowledge that contributes to the development of the organization and encourages us to keep on with the work and believe in the positive change of this planetary moment.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On April 29, the Day of the Indian is commemorated, an important date for celebrating the richness and diversity of the way of life of these original peoples of the Americas.
