These are individuals, families or groups that travel through countries, regions and continents, bringing opportunities and challenges that have to do with their development and local integration.\u00a0<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>The Brazilian response to the Venezuelan migratory flow, known as \u201cOperation Welcome\u201d is considered by the UN to be a good practice that should be disseminated and copied in other emergency situations focused on the immigrant population of the world.<\/p>\n\n<p><p><span lang=\"EN-US\">According to\u00a0<\/span>According to\u00a0<u>UN<\/u>\u00a0agencies, almost 5 million Venezuelans have left their country since 2015. Brazil is the fifth most sought destination for them, and has already received more than 250 thousand Venezuelans. Throughout those years, different stages occurred in the building of this response, and because it was a pioneer, the\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.fraterinternacional.org\/en\/\">Humanitarian Fraternity (FIHF)<\/a><\/u>\u00a0participated in all the phases, and continues to work in improving their process.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Building Durable Solutions<\/span><\/b><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>Throughout the world, the great challenge in a humanitarian response is to find alternatives for the immigrants and refugees\u2019 socioeconomic insertion into the host community, so they can then gain freedom from welfare assistance and rebuild their lives with dignity.<\/p>\n\n<p><p style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-mce-style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This scenario caused the humanitarian response as a whole to move toward a\u00a0<u><a href=\"https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/en\/?s=solu%C3%A7%C3%B5es+duradouras\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/en\/?s=solu%C3%A7%C3%B5es+duradouras\">Durable Solutions<\/a><\/u>\u00a0process, which in the case of the\u00a0<a href=\"\/?p=140298\" data-mce-href=\"https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/en\/roraima-humanitarian-mission-5-years-of-humanitarian-response-to-the-venezuelan-people\/\">RoraimaHumanitarian Mission<\/a>, is already the third stage of the response \u2013 after emergency assistance in the first years and the phase of expansion of shelters; now the focus is to create opportunities for the refugees and immigrants to restart their lives in Brazilian society.<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p><p><b><span lang=\"EN-US\">Immigrants Contribute to Global Economic Development<\/span><\/b><\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>Immigrants can make a great contribution to the growth and prosperity of their countries of origin and destination. The funds the workers send back to their countries of origin can contribute to the establishment of policies and mechanisms for development and that encourage remittance services.<\/p>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\"><figure class=\"aligncenter size-large\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Dia_Mundial_Migrantes_solucoes_duradouras_FFHI_FMHI-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-140665\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Dia_Mundial_Migrantes_solucoes_duradouras_FFHI_FMHI-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Dia_Mundial_Migrantes_solucoes_duradouras_FFHI_FMHI-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Dia_Mundial_Migrantes_solucoes_duradouras_FFHI_FMHI-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Dia_Mundial_Migrantes_solucoes_duradouras_FFHI_FMHI-1536x1024.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/www.missoeshumanitarias.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/Dia_Mundial_Migrantes_solucoes_duradouras_FFHI_FMHI-2048x1365.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n<p><p>During the Module I Training done by the\u00a0<u>International Organization for Migration (OIM)\u00a0<\/u>for reporters, in February 2020, in the Public Defenders of the Union auditorium, in S\u00e3o Paulo, a video was shown on Immigration and Work, and the specialist in Labor Migration and Development, Ricardo Cordero, showed data in immigration and work which indicate that \u201cin 2017, there were close to 157 million immigrant workers, of both genders; this means that almost 61% of the global population of immigrants are men and women who work.\u201d<\/p><\/p>\n\n<p>Cordero added that the fact that these immigrants are workers make them more vulnerable to exploitation and discrimination; \u201cmany of the migrant workers do not know their rights and their obligations in the countries where they are working, and the majority are greatly exploited,\u201d he affirms.<\/p>\n\n<p>\u201cBut one of the most important subjects that is little talked about is the contribution made by the workers to the counties that take them in. A lot is said about the funds they send to their countries of origin, but little is said about their contribution to the communities where they work.
