Humanitarian actions that transform lives in Angola

Throughout 2024, the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) carried out a series of humanitarian actions in Angola, consolidating its partnership with the Santa Isabel Children’s Charity Work (OCSI). Through a Cooperation Agreement, humanitarian volunteers worked on various fronts, including the Santa Isabel Children’s Home, the Esperança and Camossi Schools, the Community Children’s Center (CIC) and the institution’s administrative office.

The activities were organized into four main sectors: Education Oriented to Overcoming Trauma, Health and Self-Care, Durable Solutions and Governance and Projects. These efforts aim to improve the quality of life of babies, children and young people, while strengthening the institutional structure and the development of OCSI employees.

During this period, volunteer humanitarian actors carried out activities involving more than 160 children of different age groups and more than 50 of the institution’s employees. Among the initiatives are art education projects, music, tutoring, a vegetable garden, therapeutic care and workshops in baking, shoemaking and soap production.

The Governance Sector included advances such as updating registration forms, implementing management systems and improving the institution’s website. In addition, external moments, such as trips to the beach and cultural events, provided enriching experiences for both the children and young people, as well as for OCSI’s employees and the Fraternity – Humanitarian Missions (FMHI) volunteer humanitarian actors.

The conclusion of this stage points to the continuity of actions in 2025, with the completion of structural projects and the deepening of educational and health initiatives. Despite the challenges, the Angola Humanitarian Mission continues to transform lives and offer ways for children and young people to overcome them.
