Cleaning and distribution of clothes
The missionaries of the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation – continued the activities at Caritas hellas, in Athens, in the support to the distribution of clothes for women, men and children. The group also participated in a group service of general cleaning of the central building, which will remain closed for three weeks, reopening at the end of August.
Four bags of masculine clothes were transferred to Caritas from the storage of the Association of Lagonisi. The missionaries also did the cleansing of the façade of this storage and the selection of clothes that are not in good conditions to be donated, but that can be recycled for making bags and other kinds of artisanship.
Maintenance tasks
At the institution kept by the Missionaries of Charity of Mother Teresa of Calcutta, the missionaries of the Fraternidade continued the tasks of maintenance, including the painting of the benches of the communitarian refectory.
Food
They collaborated in the fixing of meals and the distribution of breakfast and of lunch. They participated at Mass, accompanied the Missionaries of Charity on a visit to a center of immigrants and also to a vegetable market to help the purchase of greens and to raise the donations of food that would be dispensed with. Also food in good state was picked from the trash cans of the market.

Saronikos
At the request of the group “Saronikos Volunteers in Action”, which works in collaboration with the city hall of Saronikos, the missionaries began the task of making the raising of bread, sweets and snacks in the city of Glyfada, in the outskirts of Athens. The food will be distributed in the house of the Missionaries of Charity, and in other areas of the town of Saronikos.
The missionaries of the Fraternidade also received a request from this group to pick food that had been left from an event at a resort on the way from Athens and the missionary base. The food was distributed to poor people.
Fires
Due to the high temperatures and the low air humidity, fires in the region are rather frequent in this time of the year. The local authorities have structure for fire-fighting, to avoid houses from various villages to be affected. During the week, a great fire took place about four kilometers from the missionary base, in a region of wood, but with houses in the vicinity. The fire lasted for 20 hours and mobilized airplanes, helicopters, trucks, cars and several volunteers.
