The Humanitarian Fraternity (FIHF) Begins the Distribution of 7,500 Oral Hygiene Kits

In March of this year, the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF) received a donation of 7,500 oral hygiene kits with the assistance of the professor Wilson Galhego, head of the UNESP – FOA, School of Dentistry of Araçatuba, responsible for the Sorriso Feliz (Happy Smile) Project, who pointed out the Humanitarian Fraternity (FIHF) organization to Colgate to be the recipient of the program kits.

Projeto Sorriso Feliz

These kits arrived at the headquarters of the Roraima Mission with logistical support from Acolhida (Welcome) Operation, through a flight of the Brazilian Airforce and ground transportation provided by the Brazilian Army, and they will be distributed at the shelters managed by the Humanitarian Fraternity (FIHF) in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), besides other locations.

Last week, the distribution of these kits began at the Janokoida indigenous shelter, managed by the Humanitarian Fraternity (FIHF) in Pacaraima, on the border with Venezuela, and another 300 kits were distributed in the Brazilian indigenous communities of the Taurepang tribe in Sorokaima and Bananal, in partnership with the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

Each kit contains a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, and an educational pamphlet on how to encourage oral hygiene in children.

Become Aware to Prevent

Projeto Sorriso Feliz

The object of these activities is to raise awareness in mothers, teachers, community officials and health officials, that are active in the shelters of the Roraima Mission, so that there may be a responsible continuity in the oral hygiene routine of children from the shelter in a way that prevents cavities and other oral diseases.

The target audience of the project is focused on children from 0 to 6 years of age, since it is considered that during childhood is when the child incorporates good hygiene habits into their lives, and because this is a favorable stage for learning and assimilating new practices that can last into adulthood.
