Group of the Fraternidade starts Chaco Mission

The Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation, began today, January 26, the Chaco Mission. It is composed of members of the Network-of-Light, of the Grace Mercy Order and of the Community of the Brotherhood. Over a period of 15 days, the group will work with the native communities in the region of Chaco, Argentina.

Missao Chaco foto grupoToday, Tuesday, at 8:30 a.m., the group, with 21 members, among whom were seven monks and nuns of the Grace Mercy Order, left the Community of the Brotherhood, in the province of Cordoba, Argentina, heading towards the city of Resistencia, the capital of the province of Chaco. This represents one thousand kilometers and approximately 14 hours of journey in a the temperature of about 38 degrees Celsius (100 degrees Fahrenheit). On the journey, the group will depart from the province of Cordoba, passing through the province of Santa Fe, until they reach the province of Chaco, the final destiny of the mission.

Missao Chaco saidaThe city of Resistencia will be the base of the group on mission in the region of Chaco. In this city, the group will be lodged in a retreat house of the Catholic Church until February 4. During the stay in Resistencia, the group will visit native communities in the region, marked by infantile malnutrition, inequality and lack of health. The team will also do one-day visits to the city of Juan José Castelli, 350 km towards the North.

The Chaco Mission takes place at the same time as another mission of the Fraternidade, in the Middle East.
