Humanitarian Education: art on mission

From the perspective of Integral Education, Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation seeks to create relations pervaded by values of self-perfecting and hope. The work has occurred in the indigenous shelters of Boa Vista and Pacaraima, in Roraima, Brazil, administered by Fraternidade. In daily routine, the educational practice seeks the joy expressed in the smiles and in the opportunity lived by each child and youth, where the right to learn is profoundly considered, even amidst the uncertain situation lived by refugees.

Art gives opportunities to the most beautiful experiences, this is told to us by Lucía, the artistic educator and missionary of Fraternidade, who imparts daily workshops in the field of arts. Regular meetings in the shelters, in which the children express their imagination by means of lines, colors and tales that point to a new trajectory.

In this video, the missionary Lucía says what it is like to bring art to those who seek to see their days with more colors. And she also discusses the experience of receiving from refugee children the art of giving new meaning to each learned line.
