“To be indigenous, to be a Warao is what I am most proud of,” says the indigenous Alejandrina, and insists on the importance “of demonstrating to the brothers who are ashamed to be Warao,” the strength of their culture: “we have to demonstrate (…) our customs, what we live, which we have to pass on from generation to generation (…).”
