Members of the Humanitarian Missions receive training in Roraima

On January 30 and 31, the Fraternidade – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF), in partnership with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), did some training for the humanitarian workers of different agencies, organizations, institutions, and the Brazilian Army that are active in the Humanitarian Mission in the State of Roraima.

The Fraternidade International (FIHF) and the representatives of civil affairs of Acolhida (Welcome) Operation explained about the Distribution and Logistics for Humanitarian Emergencies that deal with topics such as planning in humanitarian assistance, distribution and storing of perishable and non-perishable items, management of warehouses, and donations.

In the follow-up, the Adventist Development and Relief Agency (ADRA) presented the Sodexo Card Program for the purchase of hygiene products, and lastly, the Fraternidade – Humanitarian Federation FIHF, together with the UNHCR, spoke about the subject of “Information Management”,” finishing the first round with practical exercises.

On the second day, the UNHCR spoke about the Management and Coordination of Temporary Shelters, and explained about the responsibilities in the Administration, Coordination, and Management of Shelters. Lastly, the Armed Forces brought forth the importance of Security in the shelters, both for the beneficiaries as well and the humanitarian teams.

According to the field assistant of the UNHCR, Joshue Santos, training such as this “is very important, because it empowers us in specific matters that deal with the protection of the rights of the people involved concerning access to services in the humanitarian response.”

The Fraternidade – International (FIHF) showed a video on the process developed by the indigenous artisans of the Warao tribe. The goal of this project is to preserve the traditions and the culture of these peoples, and through marketing of the handicrafts, guarantee lasting ways of generating income.

The  Internalization Program for Venezuelan Immigrants that aims to send the immigrants to Brazilian States for social-economic integration, was explained by the International Organization for Migration (OIM), UNHCR, and the Armed Forces.

According to Imer, the missionary of the Fraternidade International (FIHF), the  training took place in an environment of partnership and fraternity among all the players involved in the humanitarian response to the Venezuelan situation in Brazilian territory. “The commitment of all participants was to continue with these kinds of meetings in order to improve the response of the Operation,” he affirmed.
