The Fraternity – International Humanitarian Federation (FIHF) is the focal point of the Sphere Handbook in Brazil and, based on it, it carries out the humanitarian management of five shelters in the Brazilian state of Roraima and the Transit Shelter (ATM) in Manaus, in partnership with the UNHCR.
Even in the context of coping with the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sphere Handbook Standards, grounded on human rights, provide useful structuring tools for an adequate humanitarian response, guiding the humanitarian professionals so as to prioritize those assisted, considering their right to actively participate in all decisions that concern their well-being, thus guaranteeing the preservation of their dignity.
