Voices of the Shelters – Del Valle and Celia

“I didn’t sleep. We adults are always awake, taking care of the children.” Those words of Del Valle are charged with the constant feeling of vigilance that Venezuelan adults are filled with on the long walks they undergo to reach countries where they may find safety, food, healthcare, which is to say, the minimum conditions for human dignity.

Del Valle and her daughter Célia, indigenous refugees, speak in this video about the challenges they faced during the 18 days they walked under the sun, rain, lots of rain, until reaching the Janokoida Shelter, managed by the Humanitarian Fraternity (FIHF),, in Pacaraima, Roraima, on the border between Brazil and Venezuela.
