Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week

Members from the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) participated in the Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week 2022 in Bangkok, Thailand, from December 4th to 8th.

The Workshop addressed the performance, challenges and strategies of humanitarian action in the Asia-Pacific region in the face of environmental complications aggravated by climate change, as well as political instability, economic crisis and its effects on the region.

The Regional Humanitarian Partnership Week was organized by the Asian Disaster Reduction and Response Network (ADRRN), Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), Church World Service Aisa (CWSA) and the International Council of Voluntary Agencies (ICVA). with the participation of professionals from different fields, academics, donors and other related partners.

“It was a quality event that dealt with various cross-cutting issues such as accountability and safeguards, providing the exchange of information and good practices between social and humanitarian actors from more than 15 countries, belonging to the four corners of the world”, affirmed the humanitarian workers Tissianie Cardoso Almeida and Gabriel Cyrilo.

Another topic of great relevance pointed out by members of the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Missions(FIHM) is the concept of mentoring, which was approached as an accessible way of sharing practical and theoretical experiences with the aim of completing a project aimed at affected populations.

“Everyone can be a mentor and mentee, as everyone has knowledge that can be shared in order to improve action and response as humanitarian actors and better deliver help to those in need. This is the main objective of the Fraternity – International HumanitarianMissions (FIHM) volunteers”, they emphasize.

In addition to the workshop content, as an Esfera focal point in Brazil and Portugal, the Fraternity – InternationalHumanitarian Missions (FIHM) had the opportunity to present its work with the Esfera Standards and the way in which it seeks to deliver quality and integrity in its actions based on the Essential Humanitarian Standards (EHS).

The food safety project was also presented through practical examples of samples of dehydrated fruits and soups, the multimixture flour and the prototype of a solar dehydrator. The project kindled the interest of the other participants who also presented points for improvement.
