Resilience and Commitment: actions of the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) in 2023

Amid the adversities and global challenges of 2023, the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) demonstrated once again its irrevocable commitment to solidarity and humanitarian aid. Thus, throughout the year, the organization maintained and renewed old partnerships, as well as establishing new alliances to continue building bridges to a more just and fraternal future.

The following video is a summary of the work of the Fraternity – International Humanitarian Missions (FIHM), but it is also a recognition of volunteer actors, collaborators, donors and partners, thanks to whom it was possible to continue to advance and open new doors for innovation, growth and consolidation of the humanitarian response on the international stage.

Main actions in 2023:

Humanitarian Mission in AngolaThe actions focused on sustainability and continuous improvement in the quality of life of children, young people, educators and employees of the “Santa Isabel Children’s House.”

Humanitarian Mission in RoraimaThrough the Indigenous Cultural and Training Center (CCFI), located in the city of Boa Vista, in northern Brazil, efforts were focused on ensuring respect for the human rights of the indigenous peoples of Venezuela, Guyana and Brazil. The activities included training to develop human and technical skills that allow them to enter the job market and achieve autonomy.

Humanitarian Mission in PolandThe humanitarian actors of the Fraternity – Humanitarian Missions (FIHM) provided training on the Sphere Handbook in Eastern Europe. This preparation was aimed at humanitarian actors from various organizations working on the humanitarian response to the conflict in Ukraine.

Humanitarian Mission in TurkeyWorking collaboratively with local organizations to provide essential humanitarian assistance in the face of the devastating earthquake. Art education activities were implemented in shelters and support was provided to veterinarians to care for affected animals.

Education in Emergency SituationsThe Education in Emergency Situations and Humanitarian Responses Sector developed a Joint Plan in collaboration with the Inter-Agency Network for Education in Emergency Situations (INEE). This plan was implemented through laboratories and workshops that brought together educators from Brazil, Portugal and Angola in a unique experience of overcoming trauma.
